Group Coaching Mentoring Lab

Develop the professional capacity to coach groups as systems.

A professional mentoring space where practitioners bring real group coaching cases — difficult dynamics, programmes that did not work, moments of uncertainty — and explore them with experienced mentors through the lens of group coaching competencies.

— WHY THIS EXISTS

Running a group is one thing. Coaching a group as a system is a different professional capability.

What do you do when a group intervention does not create the results you expected? When some participants engage and others remain on the margins? When individual conversations work, but the group itself does not seem to move? When you have a solid programme design, yet something happens in the room that the design cannot solve?

The Group Coaching Mentoring Lab is a recurring two-hour professional mentoring space created by Collective Shift Academy for people who work, or want to work, with groups.

Bring your real cases, questions, challenges, and even the group programmes that did not work as expected. We explore them together through the lens of professional competencies for working with groups.

— WHAT HAPPENS IN THE ROOM

These are not webinars. They are not lectures. They are live mentoring and learning sessions built around real professional practice.

Depending on the cases brought into the room, we may:

01

Analyse real group coaching cases and challenging situations.

02

Explore why a group intervention or programme did not produce the expected results.

03

Examine the situation through the lens of group coaching competencies.

04

Distinguish between facilitation, training, individual coaching in a group, and coaching the group as a system.

05

Explore group dynamics and what they require from the practitioner.

06

Discuss programme and intervention design.

07

Work through ethical or professional dilemmas.

The intention is not to give you another collection of techniques. It is to help you develop the judgment, awareness, and professional capacity required to decide what a group needs, what is happening in the system, and how you can intervene more effectively.

— WHO THIS IS FOR

The Mentoring Lab is open to professionals who already work with groups or want to develop their capacity to do so:

01

Coaches and coaches in training

02

Team coaches

03

Facilitators and trainers

04

HR and L&D professionals

05

Psychotherapists working with groups

06

Professionals who design or lead learning experiences for groups, teams, or open cohorts

You do not need to be a Collective Shift practitioner to participate. You do need to be genuinely interested in developing the quality of your work with groups.

— BRING THE CHALLENGE YOU ARE ACTUALLY FACING

You do not need another hypothetical case. Bring yours.

A difficult group dynamic. A programme that did not work. A moment when you did not know how to intervene. A group you are about to start working with. A design decision you are questioning.

Or simply the question: What would I need to see, understand, or be capable of doing differently to create better results with groups?

Because greater clarity changes what you can see. What you can see changes the quality of your decisions. And the quality of your decisions determines the interventions — and ultimately the results — you are capable of creating with groups.

— FAQ

Questions before you register

Do I need to bring a case to participate?

No. You can attend and learn from the cases others bring. But the sessions are richer when you bring something real — and most practitioners find that articulating their own challenge is where the clarity starts.

No. The Lab is open to any professional working with groups. Members of the Academy have ongoing access; professionals from outside can attend up to three sessions free of charge.

No. The Lab is a genuine mentoring space with professional value on its own. If you discover through these sessions that group coaching is a capability you want to develop further, the pathway exists — but it is not the purpose of the session.

The Lab serves practitioners at different stages. If you are earlier in your development, you will benefit from exposure to how experienced practitioners think, notice, and decide — often more valuable than any framework at that stage.

Mentoring sessions of this kind can contribute to continuing professional development. Confirm the specific recognition with the Academy team when you apply.

Professionals outside the Academy have access to three sessions. Beyond that, ongoing access is part of Collective Shift Academy membership.
